Welcome to the SmartLab
Welcome to North Dakota’s first SmartLab. The North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE) is excited to offer a new, hands-on learning program appropriate for students in grades 3-12. The program is project-based and STE(A)M focused, but is adaptable to many other academic approaches. Though currently the opportunity provided by NDCDE only exists for those within driving distance of Fargo, where NDCDE's office is located, SmartLabs can be developed for individual schools through Creative Learning Systems. We also plan to make SmartLabs available exclusively for schools in North Dakota, regardless of location and size of school, via a cooperative arrangement between Creative Learning Systems and NDCDE. Continue checking our website to stay informed of the latest developments.
What is a SmartLab?
SmartLabs are 21st century learning labs that are designed for the exploration of STE(A)M topics, digital media arts and workforce scenarios through applied technology. SmartLabs are fully-integrated classroom-ready systems that include hardware, software, scientific and media equipment, hands-on construction kits and flexible furniture systems. SmartLabs include cutting-edge curriculum, ePortfolio documentation and assessment systems, professional development and ongoing technical and professional support. Learners apply the most up-to-date technology and methods to academically-focused, standards-based projects. This is combined with student-centered curriculum that adapts to learners of different abilities and learning styles. The results are challenged and engaged students learning real-world skills in an environment conducive to learning.
Besides what NDCDE has provided to you in this message and the pictures and short videos of NDCDE SmartLab, we invite you to investigate further by viewing testimonials and research supporting the SmartLab learning environment provided by Creative Learning Systems.
